School counselling staff are members of the school learning and support team.
A teacher may recommend the service by referring a student to the school’s learning and support team. As a parent or carer, you may refer your child directly to the school counselling service. Students can also self-refer to the service.
The school counselling service can:
- support students who are worrying about school work, friends, getting in trouble at school or feeling down
- help parents and carers make decisions about your child’s education
- assess a student’s learning and behaviour
- help teachers and students identify and address disabilities that may affect learning
- liaise with other agencies regarding student wellbeing.
School counselling is confidential.

Murrumburrah Public School is a member of the Murrimboola Learning Community. The MLC work together to provide exciting and educational opportunities for all students.
At Murrumburrah, we recognise that student needs are individual and our School Learning Support Team assists us in catering for students with special needs. Through the learning community, students have access to appropriate testing and funding which enables us to develop individual learning plans and management programs for not only our special needs students but for all students within the school.
The Learning Support Team at Murrumburrah Public School work together with our School Counsellor, Itinerant Support Teacher (Behaviour) and teaching and support staff to develop effective and consistent strategies for teachers to guide our special needs students in their learning and development.
